Delhi Anand Marriage Registration
In Delhi, the marriage registration of Sikh married couples is done under Delhi Anand marriage registration act 2018. Delhi Anand marriage act came into force on 8th February 2018. Under this act a Sikh marriage already solemnized can be registered in the jurisdiction of the marriage registrar office where either of the couple’s place of residence is or where marriage took place. Marriage registration process is similar to Hindu marriage registration procedure.

Documents required for Marriage Certificate in Delhi
- Marriage registration application form duly signed by both husband and wife.
- Documentary evidence of date of birth of parties (Matriculation Certificate/Passport/ Birth Certificate) Minimum age of both parties is 21 years at the time of registration under the Special Marriage Act.
- Address Proof of husband or wife whose area SDM has been approached for the marriage certificate.
- Aadhar card of both Husband &Wife.
- Affidavit by both the parties stating place and date of marriage, date of birth, marital status at the time of marriage and nationality.
- Two passport size photographs of both the parties and one marriage photograph.
- Marriage Invitation Card
- If marriage was solemnized in a religious place, a certificate from the priest is required who solemnized the marriage.
- One witness having Aadhar card & PAN card.
- Attested copy of divorce decree/order in case of a divorcee and death certificate of spouse in case of widow/widower.
- In case one of the parties belong to other than Hindu, Buddhist, Jain and Sikh religions, a conversion certificate from the priest who solemnized the marriage (in case of Hindu Marriage Act).
Court Marriage in Delhi
Serving Notice –
Serving notice is the first stage of court marriage procedure. The couple who wants to get married under special marriage act, should first serve a notice for intention to get married. This notice will be put on the notice board in the office of marriage registrar concerned.
During the notice serving procedure of court marriage, physical presence of the couple and witnesses is mandatory.
If there is no objection from any party, couple can get married in the court of marriage registrar after 30 days from the date of notice served.
Marriage Registration –
Marriage registration is the second stage of court marriage procedure. If there is no objection raised by any one against the notice, couple can get married in the court of marriage registrar after 30 days.
During marriage registration procedure, physical presence of the couple and witnesses in mandatory.
Documents Required for Court Marriage in Delhi
- Date of birth proof of parties (Matriculation Certificate/Passport/Birth Certificate)
- Address Proof of husband or wife whose area SDM has been approached for the marriage certificate (Voter ID/Passport/ Aadhar Card/ Driving License)
- Two passport size photographs of both the parties ID proof, PAN Card
- 2 passport size photos each for all 3witnesses
- Death certificate or divorce decrees whichever is applicable, in case one of the parties had any marriages in the past.
